Synopsis
Seakeeper is pleased to announce that one of the industry's largest and most prestigious yacht builders, Sunseeker, is now offering Seakeeper Gyro Stabilization Systems on a number of models. The Seakeeper M7000 gyro will be engineered on the Manhattan 60 and 70, as well as the Predator 64 and 74. Sunseeker will also offer Seakeeper units on larger models as an option. "You asked I relate the story I told you about our maiden voyage in the Med. We custom ordered our Sunseeker Predator 52 for delivery in the Med last summer. We cruised the French and Italian Riviera from St. Tropez to Positano. While in the United States a 52 foot boat is of a respectable size; in the Riviera it is somebody elses tender. When we docked in St Tropez, Monaco, Capri and elsewhere we were surrounded by boats of a hundred feet. The Seakeeper did its job allowing us to anchor off in all weather and enjoy ourselves. Our last night before departing back to the United States we docked in Portofino. It is as beautiful as shown on the postcards. However, it is not really a port or a marina. It is totally exposed to the sea. It is a very small harbor with dockage for only a few dozen boats. I can say we were the smallest by far. That evening a mistral (storm) was coming through. The seas were rough and all the boats I could see in the harbor were rocking heavily. We came ashore to have our last evening drink at a harbor side cafe. When I came ashore I could hear the people around us talking and pointing at our boat. I thought at first something was wrong until I realized they could not understand why our boat was not rocking like the others. Some people who saw us come ashore approached us and asked if we had anchors deployed on each side to stop the rocking. I tried to explain we had a Seakeeper and tried to explain it was a gyro. Clearly they did not understand and kept on questioning why our boat was not rocking. We went back on board and had a good night sleep even though the seas were rough. We awoke early so we could leave for the airport. We noticed most of the same people we saw in the evening were ashore. They spent the whole night ashore because of the rocking of their large Yachts.
