What’s your title with Seakeeper?

Material Handler.

Briefly describe your role at Seakeeper as if you were explaining it to someone in another department. What’s your day-to-day like? What’s your piece in the Seakeeper puzzle?

I’m responsible for moving things from one building to another on the Mohnton campus, getting them from point A to point B quickly, efficiently, and safely. Every day is different with surprises thrown in.

What were you doing before you joined the Seakeeper team?

I was driving a forklift for an animal food company, but I’ve been operating machines for over 30 years.

When did you start at Seakeeper?

June 28, 2021.

How have things changed since then?

We’ve expanded since then. With all the growth I have had more responsibility put on my plate. You have to be open and flexible and do your best. Everyone here is so nice, you get to know them quickly. I’m an extrovert and I get to say hello to people every day. The job has gotten busier and things change quickly.

What’s the most interesting or challenging job you’ve been confronted with at Seakeeper?

Driving the truck to Leesport. I recently started helping with the movement of equipment, machines, parts, etc. from Mohnton to Leesport, and this has been an exciting challenge. There are a lot of knuckleheads on the road!

What is one of your biggest personal accomplishments at Seakeeper?

Relationship building! Talking to people I see at work and getting to know them.

What do you like most about working at Seakeeper?

The people. We seem to hire the nicest people. Kudos to the recruitment team! I work with some of the nicest people I’ve ever met.

What do you find most challenging about your particular role?

I’m usually the only guy out there, covering a 4-acre campus with 7 buildings. Many people want you there at the same time and they need you to get there fast.

Our company is growing fast—what advice would you give to new hires?

Be open, be flexible, and be positive. Change is necessary.

Who’s one person at Seakeeper that’s had the greatest impact on your time here?

Not one person but one department – the Employee Experience team.

Do you have a personal motto or mantra? What is it? Why?

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. It says a lot about who I am and how I live my life.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise the rest of us.

I volunteer at an after-school program for children, mostly middle schoolers, who do not have a father figure.
