Rebecca Smitha Promoted to Seakeeper Chief Financial Officer

Smitha earns new title after 11 years of strong company growth

CALIFORNIA, Md. (November 14, 2018) – Seakeeper, Inc., the leader in marine stabilization, announced the promotion of Vice President of Finance, Rebecca Smitha, to Chief Financial Officer. The announcement was made at the grand opening event of Seakeeper’s new headquarters office to accommodate an ever-growing team.

Smitha’s tenure with Seakeeper began in June 2007 as controller and was the company’s sixth employee. Since then, she’s been crucial in Seakeeper’s growth, including in the recent acquisition by Madison Industries where she worked with the leadership team to find a partner that would allow Seakeeper to remain entrepreneurial in achieving the company’s goals. In her new role as CFO, she’ll focus more on strategy and overall goals, allowing her teams to run more of the day-to-day operations. There are currently 57 employees in HR, accounting, finance, service, training, and inventory control that report directly or indirectly to Smitha.

“Rebecca and I have worked closely now for 10 years,” said Andrew Semprevivo, Seakeeper President & CEO. “Without her leadership and expertise, we wouldn’t be where we are today. We are grateful to have someone who works tirelessly and believes in Seakeeper’s mission like Rebecca does. She is beyond deserving and will continue to be an asset to Seakeeper as our CFO.”

Prior to her time with Seakeeper, Smitha served as the director of financial reporting for Landmark Communication. She holds an MBA in Finance, a BA in accounting, and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She is based out of Seakeeper’s headquarters in California, Maryland and lives in Leonardtown with her husband, Rick and children, Lauryn and Ryan. In her spare time, she winds down with PiYo and running, and enjoys cheering on her home team – the Dallas Cowboys.

“I am very appreciative of the opportunities I’ve been given with Seakeeper,” Smitha said. “Bringing the initial Seakeeper vision to life with a team constantly striving for growth and betterment is my motivation every day.”
