Seakeeper Expands to Accommodate Unprecedented Growth

Sales in key market up 130 percent in 2017, factory expansion to meet demand

CALIFORNIA, Md. (January 19, 2018) – Seakeeper, Inc., the leader in marine stabilization, prepares to meet growing consumer demands coming off the heels of record-breaking year-end results in 2017. The company increased shipments by more than 50 percent over 2016 – creating a compound annual growth rate of 42 percent over the past five years. Sales on units for vessels under 50 feet alone increased 130 percent YOY.

To accommodate the increase in demand and growing product line, Seakeeper expanded its Mohnton, Pennsylvania assembly facility by 50 percent and created 12 new production lines – to increase total production capacity to more than 6,000 units per year. Growing not only in demand but also in size, Seakeeper added 25 new positions in 2017 as well as 27 dealers to its global network.

“This was a strong year for our team. Not only are we creating a superior product, we’re a growing company that values its employees, vendors, and customers alike,” said Seakeeper Chief Operating Officer, Andrew Semprevivo. “Every day we are changing the way the world boats, and we will continue to stay at the forefront of product development until people reminisce about the day that boats used to roll.”

2017 saw the release of two new products. The Seakeeper 3, the first DC-powered gyro, began shipping in April for boats 30-39 feet. The product, with a completely new design, won the Innovation Award for Mechanical Systems at The International Boatbuilders Exhibition & Conference (IBEX) in October. The release of the Seakeeper 6 in July for boats 40-49 feet showed Seakeeper’s commitment to constant improvement – packing 20 percent more performance into the same footprint as its predecessor, the Seakeeper 5.

Continued growth in 2018 will include new product launches and the expansion of Seakeeper’s demo boat program to boast six boats globally. Additionally, the company will open a new office in Lavagna, Italy, later this year. The space will include storage for spare parts that will result in quicker distribution across Europe.
