Seakeeper Launches Battery-Powered Model

CALIFORNIA, Md., (April 30, 2015) – Seakeeper, the forward-thinking global leader in marine stabilization, has developed its first DC-powered gyro. Engineered for boats 30’–40′ in length, the state-of-the-art Seakeeper 3DC reduces resonant roll by up to 95%, in a wide range of sea conditions. It is now possible to achieve a safe, stable and comfortable platform on the water, while underway or at rest, without the need for a generator.

Based on the company’s widely-popular Seakeeper 5, the Seakeeper 3DC shares the same small footprint of 30″ L x 30″ W x 25″ H and weight of 790 lbs. The unit has a modest electrical draw of between 500–1,000 watts, depending on the sea state. The new model retails for $29,900. Seakeeper is currently taking orders, with shipments beginning in June.

Like all the company’s gyros, the leading-edge Seakeeper 3DC requires no speed-robbing external appendages and is virtually silent. It can be installed off centerline if needed, offering great flexibility for both new builds and refits.

More than 2,400 Seakeepers gyros have been installed worldwide. The completely scalable technology stabilizes vessels from 30’–220′.
